Toyota’s Updated Voxy Gains More Equipment and a Sharper, More Mature Character

Toyota announced a partial update for the Voxy on April 10, 2026 and said sales would begin in May. As one of Toyota’s most popular mid-size minivans, the Voxy has built its reputation on practical dimensions, sliding doors on both sides, and a style that leans more aggressively into dress-up appeal than its sibling, the Noah.

A Key Mechanical Change: Hybrid-Only Lineup

The current fourth-generation model first appeared in January 2022. Until now, it had shared its mechanical layout with the Noah while differentiating itself with details such as its sharper two-tier lighting design. In this latest update, one of the most significant changes is that the 2.0-liter gasoline engine has been dropped from the regular lineup, leaving the Voxy as a 1.8-liter hybrid-only model, except for welfare-vehicle variants.

Exterior Revisions

The front grille and headlamp design have been revised to create a more stylish face that emphasizes the eyes. The grille itself changes from a gray-accent treatment to a black-accent treatment, and if the new body color called Neutral Black is selected, the grille garnish also becomes black. The result is a cleaner, darker look with less chrome, almost like a customized show car straight from the factory.

The 17-inch wheels have also been changed to a machined-and-black finish with a dark clear layer, which pushes the exterior further toward the dark, sporty character that has long defined the Voxy. Two new colors, Neutral Black and Urban Rock, join the range, while Attitude Black Mica and Metal Stream Metallic are dropped. Together with Platinum White Pearl Mica, the lineup now consists of three colors.

Interior and Equipment Upgrades

Inside, all grades now use piano-black finishes around the shift knob and window switches. On the top-grade S-Z, the meter hood receives stitched trim, and stitched treatment is also added to the instrument panel and door trims. Some surfaces are switched to suede-like material, and the seat upholstery design is revised as well.

The instrument display also grows. On the S-Z, the display increases from 7 inches to 12.3 inches, while on the mid-grade S-G it grows from 4.2 inches to 7 inches. Front and rear dash cameras are now standard on the S-Z and remain a manufacturer option on the S-G. Snow Extra mode is added to the drive mode select system on E-Four models, and dual power sliding doors with one-touch switches become standard on the S-G as well.

Ride, Quietness, and Price

The update also improves comfort. Toyota says the shock-absorber damping force has been optimized to improve ride quality, and sound-insulating materials have been arranged more effectively to reduce cabin noise. As a result, the Voxy is not only better equipped, but also more refined in the way it drives and feels inside.

Vehicle prices including tax now range from 3,751,000 yen to 4,380,200 yen. That is a slight increase over the equivalent grades before the update, but the article argues that the richer standard equipment and higher level of maturity make the increase understandable.
